VEGETABLE MOMOS
Momo is a type of East and South Asian steamed filled dumpling, popular across the Indian subcontinent and the Himalayan regions of East-South Asia border. Momos, originating from Tibet is a hugely popular street food in the country, largely in North-India. A versatile food that it is, we have a wide variety available from chicken, mutton to what we have here, vegetable momos.From last few years, Momos are getting very popular in other parts of India.
Making momos takes quite a good amount of time. So, when you have enough time to spare, then make them.The shaping of the momos come through practice. I don’t make them often. Hence obviously, I am not an expert in shaping them.
Ingredients:
FOR DOUGH:
1+1/2 cup maida / plain flour
1/2 tsp salt
Water for kneading
Oil for greasing

FOR STUFFING:
3 tsp oil
3 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 inch ginger, finely chopped
2 chilli, finely chopped
3 tsp oil

2 medium sized onion, chopped
1 cup carrot, grated
2 cup cabbage, shredded
1/2 tsp pepper, crushed
1/2 tsp salt

Recipe:
- Firstly, prepare stuffing by heating 3 tsp oil and saute 3 clove garlic, 1 inch ginger and 2 chilli.
- Add onions and saute on high flame.
- Further, add carrot and cabbage and stir fry on high flame.
- Now, to this add 1/2 tsp pepper and 1/2 tsp salt.
- Additionally, 2 tbsp spring onion and stuffing mixture is ready.
- Then, pinch a small ball sized momos dough and flatten.
- Now, dust with some maida and start to roll using a rolling pin.
- Roll to almost medium thin circle. around 4 – 5 inch in diameter and make sure you roll from sides and keep the centre slightly thick.
- Now place a tbsp of prepared stuffing in the centre.
- Start pleating the edges slowly and gather everything.
- Press in middle and seal the momos forming a bundle.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Fry the momos until crispy brown in colour.
- Finally, our veg momos recipe is ready.
